Dark petrol replaces navy wherever an edge can take a little more character: deep, calm, almost a very dark blue in shadow, distinctly greener in daylight. This fine rib stretches widely, springing back reliably, so necklines stay snug. Petrol shades suit children as well as adults, reading neither typically female nor male — which is why they land so often in projects passed along later. Beside camel, mustard, grey plus natural white they build calm, long-lasting combinations.

Frequently asked questions
How do I cut ribbing correctly?
Cut the strip crosswise to the selvedge, where the stretch runs, then fold it lengthwise along the crease. Rule of thumb: neckbands about two thirds to three quarters of the neckline, sleeve or hem bands slightly shorter than the circumference.
How much ribbing do I need?
Sleeve plus hem ribbing on a jumper usually takes only a short piece, while hoodies including hood facings or pockets need more. We cut from 0.2 metres upwards, so you can order exactly what your pattern calls for.
Which fabrics match this colour exactly?
Heike is colour-matched to Vanessa, Maike plus Eike by Swafing: identical colour code, identical shade. You can combine jersey, French terry or brushed sweat alongside matching ribbing, avoiding any colour deviation at the edges.
Is this ribbing tested regarding harmful substances?
Yes, the fabric is certified according to Oeko-Tex, meaning it has been tested regarding harmful substances. Ribbing sits right against skin at necks or wrists, so that certificate feels reassuring in baby clothes plus children's garments.
