The fibre absorbs very little moisture. That makes the fabrics resistant to stains and means they dry quickly after washing – in return they are less breathable than cotton.

The range runs from light, flowing qualities for blouses and dresses through firm fabrics for decoration to effect fabrics with sheen or texture for costumes.

Sew with a fine needle and an ordinary straight stitch. Take care when pressing: polyester does not tolerate high temperatures, and too much heat leaves shiny marks or melts the surface.

Does polyester crease?

Hardly. The fibre springs back into shape, which is why garments still look smooth after sitting for a long time. That is one reason polyester is often used in travel clothing.

How do I press polyester correctly?

At a low temperature and preferably from the wrong side. High heat creates shiny marks or melts the surface, and that damage cannot be reversed.

Is polyester breathable?

Less so than cotton, because the fibre absorbs very little moisture. For dresses, decoration and costumes that rarely matters; in sportswear special constructions handle moisture transport.
