Measurements decide: clips, rings and sliders are made for particular webbing widths. It is best to buy hardware and webbing together, then the tape passes exactly through the opening and does not slip.

Attachment points need reinforcing. Where a ring sits on the bag body the whole weight acts while carrying – an extra layer of fabric, interfacing or a rivet stops the seam from tearing out.

Bag feet protect the base from abrasion and damp. They are pushed through the fabric and folded over inside; reinforcement is worthwhile here too so the feet do not press through.

How do I find the right clip size?

It depends on the webbing width. Measure the tape or buy both together. A clip that is too large lets the tape slip, one that is too small will not pass through at all.

Why do I need bag feet?

They lift the base slightly and protect it from dirt and abrasion. On light fabrics and bags that are often put down, that noticeably extends the life of the bag.

How do I reinforce attachment points?

With an extra layer of fabric or interfacing and, if needed, a rivet. What matters is spreading the force over more fabric than the seam alone.
