Twisted cords are made by twisting several strands together. That gives the surface its characteristic spiral structure, which catches light differently from a smoothly braided cord.

Take care when cutting: a twisted cord unwinds at the open end immediately. Wrap the spot with tape before cutting and secure the end straight afterwards.

End caps, a firm knot or, with synthetic fibre, a brief touch of flame will secure it. Without securing, the twist gradually unravels along the whole length.

For drawstrings this size is often too thick. Eyelets and channels have to be large; as a visible handle or decorative cord, on the other hand, it comes into its own.
