Polyester is stronger than viscose and loses hardly any colour even with bleach. That is why the thread is popular for workwear, sportswear, children's clothes and household linen.

The sheen is a little more restrained than with viscose thread, but it lasts through many washes. For designs that see daily wear, that advantage outweighs the difference.

Use an embroidery needle of a suitable size and normal thread tension. A thinner speciality thread serves as the bobbin thread so the reverse stays flat.

When should I choose polyester over viscose?

Whenever the item is washed hot or often: workwear, sportswear, children's clothes, towels. Viscose shines more but is more delicate.

Does Polyneon tolerate bleach?

Considerably better than viscose thread. It is made for chlorinated washing and loses hardly any colour, which is why it is common in workwear.

Which thread weight is usual?

No. 40 as the standard for almost every design. Finer weights are used for small lettering, where stitches would otherwise run together.
