The print lies on the outside and does not change the function: the fabric stays windproof, water repellent and breathable. Only pressing calls for extra care, as the print can become shiny under heat.

Large motifs should be placed deliberately before cutting. On a child's jacket a print quickly fills the whole front, and motifs that end at a zip or seam look restless.

Handle printed softshell like plain: clips instead of pins, longer stitch, no edge finishing needed. Seam tape at zips keeps the edge neat.

Does the print reduce the weather protection?

No. The print sits on the outside and the functional layers stay unchanged. Only direct heat while pressing can damage the print.

How do I place a large motif on a child's jacket?

Lay the pattern pieces out before cutting and shift them until the motif sits centred on back or front. Allow a little extra fabric for this.

Can I combine printed softshell with plain?

Yes, that is common. Sleeves or a yoke in one colour from the print calm the overall look and save patterned fabric at the same time.
