The loops on the reverse give body and absorb moisture without creating the warmth of a brushed sweat. That makes the fabric comfortable for transitional seasons and cooler summer days.

As a solid fabric it is the basis for every combination: with patterned sweat, with panels, as sleeves or a yoke. It can also stand in for cuffing on loose designs.

Sew with a jersey needle and a stretch stitch. When pressing, keep the looped side down so it is not flattened. Wash the fabric before cutting.

Good to know

When should I choose summer sweat over winter sweat?

When it is warmer or the garment should drape more lightly. Summer sweat keeps you less warm but wears more comfortably at mild temperatures and indoors.

Can I sew with the looped side facing out?

Yes, that gives a visible texture. Keep in mind that the loops are more delicate: they snag more easily and flatten faster with frequent washing.

Is summer sweat suitable for trousers?

Very much so. Joggers and comfortable children's trousers drape softly and still keep their shape. For trousers with plenty of body, a firmer quality is better.
