The motif sits on the smooth outer face, the loops lie inside. Because the fabric is firmer than jersey, a print hardly distorts when worn – even large motifs keep their shape.

When cutting, it pays to place the motif deliberately. In children's sizes a large print quickly fills the whole front; lay the pattern pieces out first and shift them until the image sits well.

Handle the fabric like plain summer sweat: jersey needle, stretch stitch, wash before cutting. Press from the reverse so the print does not become shiny.

How do I find cuffing to match the print?

Pick up a colour that appears several times in the motif, ideally a darker one. The finish then looks deliberate even if it does not match the shade exactly.

Does the print distort in the wash?

No, the fabric is stable enough. Wash inside out and not too hot, and the colours stay strong and the surface smooth for a long time.

Is printed summer sweat suitable for jackets?

For light transitional jackets, yes. In wind and cold, brushed winter sweat or softshell is the better choice, as summer sweat neither insulates nor blocks wind.
