At 220 gsm, Vanessa sits in the medium-weight range. The fabric feels pleasantly dense in the hand, is opaque enough for dresses and stays soft against the skin thanks to 95% cotton. The 5% elastane adds stretch across the width and helps cuffs and necklines keep their shape.
The drape is soft rather than fluid: the jersey settles into quiet folds and the cut edge curls only moderately. With a width of 155 cm, wider pattern pieces fit in comfortably.

The 5% elastane gives stretch mainly across the width, with good recovery afterwards. That is enough for tees, bodysuits and leggings where the fabric needs to move with the body.
Is the fabric opaque?
At 220 gsm Vanessa is a medium-weight jersey and opaque enough for dresses and skirts. With very light linings underneath or a close fit, hold it up to the light before cutting.
Will it shrink in the wash?
Residual shrinkage is given as around 5%. Wash the fabric once before cutting so the finished garment keeps the size you planned for.
How do I care for it?
Machine wash at 30 °C and iron on a low setting. Do not bleach and do not tumble dry. The fabric is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
