Anthracite Melange is a deep, cool grey with lighter and darker fibres spun through it. The mottled surface looks livelier than a flat solid grey, yet stays calm enough to sit alongside busy prints and bright colours. Lint and creases show up less on a melange ground, which is handy for clothes that get worn every day.
At 220 gsm, Vanessa is a medium-weight jersey: the handle is soft and supple, and the fabric falls in soft, flowing folds rather than standing away from the body. The 5% elastane gives clear crosswise stretch and helps cuffs, knees and elbows keep their shape. With a width of 155 cm there is room for wider pattern pieces too.

At 220 gsm Vanessa is a medium-weight jersey and covers well in anthracite melange. Used on its own it is dense enough for dresses, skirts and shirts without underwear showing through.
How much does the fabric stretch?
The 5% elastane gives noticeable stretch across the width and good recovery afterwards. That makes closer-fitting shapes such as leggings or fitted shirts perfectly possible with this jersey.
How should I care for it?
Wash at 30 °C, iron on a low setting, do not bleach and do not tumble dry. Residual shrinkage is around 5%, so wash the fabric once before cutting out.
Does the colour match other fabric types?
Anthracite melange carries colour code 1789, which runs true across the Swafing ranges. That way a top and a jacket can be sewn in the same tone with no visible colour difference.
