Orangerot 425 is a warm, full red with a clear orange note – strong in colour, yet never neon. It reads sunny in daylight and stays calm under artificial light, which makes it an easy choice for everyday clothes for children and grown-ups alike.
Made from 95% cotton and 5% elastane, the jersey feels soft and slightly cool against the skin, with a smooth, even surface. At 220 g/m² it sits in the medium-weight range: it drapes softly and close to the body without showing through, stretches noticeably across the width and stays more stable along the length.
The 155 cm width leaves room when cutting, and residual shrinkage is 5%. Certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
What Vanessa Orangerot is suitable for
- Shirts and long-sleeve tops, as the 5% elastane gives good crosswise stretch for a close fit.
- Dresses and skirts, since 220 g/m² is opaque enough and the fabric falls softly.
- Children's clothing and bodysuits, thanks to the soft cotton surface and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification for wear next to the skin.
- Leggings, because the stronger crosswise stretch moves with the body.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Is this jersey opaque?
At 220 g/m² it is a medium-weight quality that is opaque enough for dresses, skirts and shirts. Only under strong stretch, for example on leggings over knees and seat, does the colour lighten slightly.
How much does it stretch?
With 5% elastane the fabric stretches clearly across the width and springs back well. Along the length it stays more stable, so the crosswise stretch should always run around the body.
Will it shrink in the wash?
Residual shrinkage is stated as 5%, so wash the jersey before cutting to keep finished garments true to size. Wash at 30 °C; tumble drying and bleaching are not intended for this fabric.
Does the colour match other fabrics with code 425?
Colour code 425 runs true across the range, matching the corresponding Swafing cuff and French terry qualities. Shirt, cuffs and jacket can therefore be combined without a visible difference in shade.
