Light grey melange is the calm grey that works with almost anything: not a cool silver, but a slightly broken tone with lighter and darker fibres mixed through it. The melange keeps the surface lively and makes seams and cuff edges look less severe.
The jersey from the Vanessa range is a medium weight at 220 gsm. It feels soft and supple, drapes downwards instead of standing stiffly away from the body, and holds its shape thanks to the 5% elastane. Stretch across the width is clearly noticeable, while the lengthwise direction gives much less.
With 95% cotton the fabric sits comfortably against the skin, and the 155 cm width leaves room when laying out pattern pieces. The fabric is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and washes at 30 °C.

Is this jersey opaque?
At 220 gsm the fabric is a medium weight, so even a lighter shade like light grey melange covers well enough for dresses and shirts. For very close-fitting styles, hold it up to the light first.
How much will it shrink?
Residual shrinkage is 5%. Allow for that when cutting so finished garments still fit after the first wash.
How do I care for the fabric?
Wash at 30 °C and iron on the low one-dot setting. Do not bleach and do not tumble dry, so the colour and the elasticity stay intact.
How stretchy is it?
With 5% elastane alongside 95% cotton, the jersey stretches mainly across the width and springs back afterwards. Lengthwise it gives noticeably less.
