Smaragd 266 is a clear, deep green with a cool blue undertone. The shade reads rich without turning harsh, and as a solid it stays calm enough to let seam lines, pockets or appliqué details show. In daylight the green looks bright; under artificial light it shifts a little darker and more muted.
At 220 g/m² the jersey sits in the medium-weight range: it drapes softly but has enough body for dresses and skirts without showing through. The 5% elastane gives a stretchy, nicely recovering give – most of it across the width – so cuffs, necklines and sleeves keep their shape. The hand feels smooth and cool, the surface even.

Is this jersey opaque enough for a dress?
Yes. At 220 g/m² Vanessa is a medium-weight cotton jersey and Smaragd 266 does not show through. Coverage is fine for dresses and skirts, even over lighter underwear.
How much does the fabric stretch?
With 5% elastane alongside 95% cotton the jersey stretches elastically and springs back. Crosswise stretch is clearly stronger than lengthwise – which matters for leggings, sleeves and necklines.
Do I need to prewash it?
Yes, we recommend washing before cutting. Residual shrinkage is 5% and the fabric is washed at 30 °C, so your finished garment still fits after the first laundry cycle.
Is it suitable for baby clothes?
The jersey is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and feels soft with 95% cotton. That makes it a good choice for bodysuits, sleepsuits and little hats worn directly on the skin.
