At 220 gsm this cotton jersey sits in the mid-weight range: it drapes softly downwards without going limp, and lies flat instead of standing away from the body. The 5% elastane gives it recovery, so necklines and sleeve hems keep their shape. The surface is fine and even, the handle smooth and cool against the skin.
The fabric is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, which makes it an easy choice for garments worn next to the skin and for children. At 155 cm wide, larger pattern pieces lay out economically.

At 220 gsm Vanessa is a mid-weight jersey and opaque enough for dresses and skirts. A deep red also covers better than pale shades, so you rarely need a lining underneath.
How much does the fabric shrink?
Residual shrinkage is around 5%. Allow for this when calculating how much you need, so sleeve and trouser lengths still fit after the first wash of the finished garment.
How do I care for this jersey?
Wash at 30 °C, iron on the low setting (one dot), do not bleach and do not tumble dry. That keeps the colour rich and preserves the recovery of the 5% elastane over many washes.
Does Red 638 match other Swafing fabrics?
The Vanessa colour range runs colour-matched with French terry and brushed sweat: same colour code, same shade. Red 638 can therefore be combined with those qualities without a visible colour difference.
