Description
A calm blue with no green in it — the colour that mediates between azure and navy, combining with either.
A narrow satin ribbon, 6 mm, in 100 % polyester, from 0.2 metres. It is the ribbon for places where anything wider would be too much: the loop on a tag, the edge of a card, the draw through a narrow casing. Washing, ironing, bleaching and tumble drying are ruled out by its care symbols. A permanent marker will write on it, though ink bleeds slightly on smooth satin — test it on a short piece first.

- A striped effect from several lengths, because narrow ribbon lines up.
- Appliqué, because short pieces already suffice.

Frequently asked questions
What is a 6 mm width good for?
Anything meant to stay fine: neck bows on children's clothes, edges on cards, gift tags, hair pieces for little ones. Wider ribbons add bulk; this one lies flat, nearly vanishing into a seam.
How do I thread it through a casing?
Fix a safety pin or a bodkin to one end and push it through bit by bit. At 6 mm your casing is usually wide enough that the ribbon will not twist on the way.
Does it shift while sewing?
On smooth satin a presser foot slips easily. Sew slowly, keep slight tension on the ribbon and stitch both edges in the same direction — otherwise your second seam travels against the first.
Does it suit hair bows?
For small bows on baby headbands yes. For larger bows meant to hold their shape, 6 mm is too narrow — reach for a wider ribbon or layer several lengths.
