Basics
Almost every sewing project needs a quiet partner alongside the printed main fabric: for sleeves, cuffs, back pieces or pockets. That is exactly what you will find here – plain jerseys, sweatshirt fabrics, cuffing and cottons in matched colours.

The basics are sorted into ranges that match in colour: jersey plain and melange, french terry plain, brushed sweatshirting plain and cuffing in fine rib, coarse rib and chunky knit. Because the same colour numbers run through several qualities, main fabric, cuffing and contrast pieces can be combined with confidence.
That is particularly useful for children's clothes, where cuffs sit at the neck, sleeves and hem and all three should hit the same shade. If in doubt, order a little more of the plain fabric: it can be used again in almost every following project.
Good to know
Why are plain basic fabrics worth buying?
They are the calm surface next to a print and can be used in almost any project. Leftovers do not disappear in the cupboard but become cuffs, pockets or sleeves of the next garment.
Do cuffing and jersey in the same colour really match?
In our ranges the same colour numbers run through several qualities, so they meet very closely in tone. Small differences can remain because the surfaces reflect light differently.
Which plain quality should I use for what?
Jersey for shirts and dresses, french terry for jumpers and hoodies, brushed sweatshirting for warm jackets, cuffing for finishes and plain cotton for bags, decoration and anything that does not need to stretch.
