Kullaloo

Kullaloo stands for soft toys and stuffed animals to sew yourself. The instructions guide you through cutting, sewing and stuffing – and at the end there is a companion that exists only once.

Soft toys consist of many small pieces with curves. Work with short stitches and clip the seam allowances on the curves so the shape turns out smoothly after turning.

Plush, nicky velour and fleece are suitable materials, as they are soft and do not fray. For stuffing use washable toy filling, pushed in small portions into arms, legs and ears.

For toys intended for small children take particular care: eyes and noses are better embroidered than glued or pushed in, and all seams should be secured twice so nothing comes apart.

Frequently asked questions

Which fabric is suitable for soft toys?

Plush, nicky velour and fleece are ideal: soft, fray free and pleasant to hold. Firm cotton works too but feels less cuddly and shows every seam more clearly.

What should I consider for baby toys?

Safety: embroider eyes and noses rather than gluing them, use no loose small parts and sew all seams twice. The filling has to be washable and must not be able to escape.

How do I stuff a soft toy evenly?

In small portions and with a stick that pushes the filling right into the ends. Pull the filling apart beforehand, then no lumps form in the finished toy.
