The fabrics come mostly as jersey and french terry, so they are stretchy and comfortable. That suits the designs: clothes children like to wear above all have to fit well and move with them.

Because the prints are large and striking, it pays to plan the cutting. Lay out the pieces so the main motifs sit in a good place – centred on the front, for instance, rather than half lost in a side seam.

The prints combine well with plain fabrics from the Basics section, where jersey, sweatshirting and cuffing are available in matched colours.

Which projects are these fabrics suitable for?

Mainly children's clothes: shirts, jumpers, hoodies and dresses. As most of them are knitted fabrics, they stretch and are comfortable for everything that has to keep up with playing.

What should I watch out for when cutting?

The placement of the motifs. Large prints should be positioned deliberately so they do not look cut off. Allow a little more fabric than the pattern states for that.

Which cuffing goes with them?

Plain cuffing in a colour that appears in the print. That keeps the garment calm even though the motif is bold. Matching qualities are listed under cuffing fabric.
