Cotton jersey stretches across the grain and returns to shape. Exactly that makes it so usable for shirts and children's clothes. The fabric comes 140 cm wide and brings 300 g/m² to the scale. Its composition reads 95 % cotton and 5 % elastane.
Multicolour works best when the rest of the piece steps back — a plain cuff, a quiet lining. The floral print runs across the whole surface, so no pattern piece comes out empty. If you sew jersey for the first time, a simple shirt is the best start — the fabric forgives more than its reputation suggests.

Frequently asked questions
How do I press a knit?
From the reverse, at moderate heat and without pulling. Direct heat on the face flattens the loops and robs the fabric of its handle. A pressing cloth between never hurts.
Can I combine different knits?
Yes, as long as the stretch is similar. A firm sweat beside a very soft jersey pulls the seam crooked. With larger differences a stay tape in the shoulder seam helps.
What do I do with offcuts?
Keep them. Jersey offcuts become cuffing, pocket bags, hair ties or appliqué. Since the goods do not fray, even small pieces work without finishing. Even strips of a few centimetres still make a loop or a label.
Do I have to pre-wash?
Yes. Whatever shrinks later shrinks better before cutting than on the finished piece. Wash the way you will wash the garment, and dry it the same way.
