Description

Strong purple is a colour moving in waves: barely asked for across years, then suddenly every child wants exactly this shade. As ribbing the wish gets granted without sewing a whole garment in it — one sleeve strip suffices. At 240 gsm this fine rib keeps even sleeve cuffs in shape that get pushed up daily. Against grey and anthracite the purple looks modern, friendly beside natural white, surprisingly fresh next to petrol. Around hoodies, sweat jackets or gym bags that makes a rewarding combination.

Sew using a stretch or jersey needle in size 75 to 80, moving up to 90 across several layers at a hood or waistband. An overlocker or elastic stitch keeps the seam flexible, while a straight stitch snaps as the garment is pulled on.

How much ribbing do I need?

Sleeve and hem ribbing on a jumper usually takes only a short piece, while hoodies including hood facings or pockets need more. We cut from 0.2 metres upwards, so you can order exactly what your pattern calls for.
