Description

Large, soft leopard spots in light lilac sit on a deep, rich purple ground. The contrast is clear, but never harsh thanks to the related shades.

In jacquard the pattern forms during knitting itself: two yarn colours alternate, so nothing fades and the back shows the motif in reverse. At 220 g/m² Emily feels substantial and drapes softly without seeming thin. Knitted from 100 % cotton, this fabric stays breathable. On 130 cm of width, jumper pieces fit side by side.

Both sides look good – for cuffs or a hood lining, simply turn the reverse outwards.

What Cotton Jacquard Jersey Emily Leopard Lilac on Purple by Swafing is suitable for

  • Jumpers, cardigans and tops with an animal print.
  • Dresses and skirts with a soft drape.
  • Children's jumpers and snoods.

Frequently asked questions

Which needle and stitch work best?

A jersey or stretch needle and a slightly elastic stitch, such as a narrow zigzag or the overlocker. That way seams will not crack when the garment is pulled on. Test on a scrap first.

Is the reverse side nice too?

Yes, in jacquard the reverse shows the pattern in swapped colours. You can use that on purpose, for instance for cuffs, collars, hood linings or pocket bags – a contrast without a second fabric.

Do I need to pre-wash this fabric?

Yes, cotton can shrink a little in its first wash. So wash this fabric before cutting the way the finished piece will be washed later, and let it dry flat.

How do I care for Emily?

Wash at 30 degrees, do not bleach and do not tumble dry. Dry flat and iron only on the lowest setting from the reverse, so the knitted pattern stays even.
