Description

Lila 647 is a clear, medium-deep violet with no greyish cast – strong enough to carry a dress or a shirt, yet calm enough to sit next to many other colours. The plain surface looks even and quiet, with only a soft play of light in the knit structure.

At 220 gsm, Vanessa sits in the medium-weight range: opaque enough for dresses and leggings, while the 95% cotton keeps it soft against the skin. The 5% elastane gives noticeable stretch across the width that springs back after wear, so knees and elbows keep their shape.

The drape is soft and gently flowing rather than heavy. Certification to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 makes it suitable for baby clothes too.

Shirts and dresses, as 220 gsm is opaque while the fabric still falls softly.

Is this jersey opaque?

At 220 gsm Vanessa is a medium-weight jersey, and in Lila 647 it is opaque enough for dresses, skirts and leggings. Very pale shades would behave differently, but this violet covers well.

How much does the fabric stretch?

The 5% elastane gives clear stretch across the width, with good recovery back into shape. That makes it a good choice for close-fitting patterns such as leggings, bodysuits and fitted shirts.

Will it shrink in the wash?

Residual shrinkage is 5%. Wash the fabric once before cutting, in the same way you will later wash the finished garment. The care instructions allow washing at 30 °C.

How do I care for this jersey?

Wash at 30 °C, iron on a low setting, do not bleach and do not tumble dry. This keeps the colour and the elasticity of the 95% cotton with 5% elastane intact.
