Description

Plum sits between burgundy and purple, carrying something of both. On pale paper it nearly reads black; only close up does the violet show.

This ribbon is 6 mm wide, made from 100 % polyester. At this narrow width, satin is above all one thing: unobtrusive. It hardly adds bulk, lies flat around curves and threads through tight casings. Sold by the metre from 0.2 metres. Washing, ironing, bleaching and tumble drying are ruled out by its care symbols — this ribbon belongs where things stay dry. Seal a cut edge briefly with a flame and it will not fray.

What Satinband 6mm Pflaume is suitable for

  • Neck bows on children's clothes, because 6 mm adds no bulk.
  • Gift tags, because this ribbon knots easily.
  • Edges on cards, because a narrow width reads precise.

Frequently asked questions

What is a 6 mm width good for?

Anything meant to stay fine: neck bows on children's clothes, edges on cards, gift tags, hair pieces for little ones. Wider ribbons add bulk; this one lies flat, nearly vanishing into a seam.

Why does only one side shine?

That is the satin weave: on the show side, yarn floats long across the surface and reflects light; on the back it binds short and stays matt. You can use either side deliberately.

Can I write on this ribbon?

A permanent marker or textile pen works, though ink bleeds slightly on smooth satin. Test it on a short piece and let your writing dry thoroughly before handling the ribbon.

How do I thread it through a casing?

Fix a safety pin or a bodkin to one end and push it through bit by bit. At 6 mm your casing is usually wide enough that the ribbon will not twist on the way.
