Dense designs put a lot of thread into little space. The fabric draws together, the surface domes, and a round logo turns oval. A sturdy cut-away stabiliser works against that, because it absorbs the pull instead of passing it on to the fabric.

The perforated structure of Super Strong is what makes the difference: it keeps the material stable without turning it stiff. The garment keeps its drape although a load-bearing layer sits under the design.

After stitching, trim close to the design with appliqué scissors. Since the stabiliser stays in the piece for good, choose the colour to match the fabric — white under light, black under dark material.

Why would I need such a sturdy stabiliser?

For logos, lettering and solid designs with a high stitch density, above all on knits. A light stabiliser falls short there: the fabric draws together and the design loses its shape.

Why appliqué scissors?

Their angled shape lets you trim close to the design without lifting the fabric or catching it by mistake. With straight scissors you quickly come too near the edge stitches.

Which colour should I choose?

The one closest to the fabric. The stabiliser stays in the garment permanently, and under thin material a pale layer shows through — on dark cloth that is visible at once.
