This small fitting turns a hole in the fabric into a passage that lasts for years. The stated size is Ø 8 mm. Sold as 24 pieces. Made from brass.
Punch the hole tightly: too large a hole lets the eyelet wander, a snug one holds it in place. On drawstring bags, hoods and lace-up closures they sit exactly where daily pulling happens. Thin cloth needs a reinforcement underneath, or the eyelet will pull through the fabric over time. These notions fit any sewing drawer and come to hand quickly.

Frequently asked questions
How are they fitted?
Small sizes go on with a hammer and a base or with punch pliers, larger ones need the enclosed tool plus a hammer. Either way, put a solid base underneath, not a table top.
Do they rust?
The parts are brass and therefore rust-free. Even after several washes the surface stays as it was, as long as no scouring agent touches it.
Can an eyelet be removed again?
Hardly ever cleanly, because its rim is folded over. So test on a scrap before starting on the good piece. At worst, cut the piece of fabric out and set a patch beneath.
How far from the edge do they go?
Enough fabric must remain so nothing tears out: roughly one eyelet width from the edge, and on soft cloth rather more than less. With several eyelets a drawn line keeps the row straight.
