Interfacing decides whether a collar stands, or hangs. This one is Interfacing, 90 cm wide, made from 100 % polyvinylalkohol.
Press its rough coated face against your fabric's wrong side, covering everything using a pressing cloth, working section by section under pressure — never sliding. Let it cool; only then does that bond hold fully.
One test over scrap settles, before cutting, whether its handle suits: interfacing should support fabric, never dominate. Interfacing plus outer cloth should survive identical care, otherwise that surface bubbles later. Should it come away regardless, too little pressure, or too little time while pressing, caused it — pressing again firmly often brings that grip back.
What Vlieseline Soluvlies is suitable for
- Collars, cuffs plus plackets meant to stand.
- Bags alongside pouches keeping their shape.
- Thin fabrics wanting a little more body.
Frequently asked questions
How is interfacing pressed on?
Lay its rough coated face against your fabric's wrong side, cover using a pressing cloth, working across section by section under pressure — never sliding. Let everything cool; only then does that bond hold fully.
Which interfacing suits my fabric?
Something light beneath thin cloth, something firm inside bags plus collars. One rule holds: interfacing should support fabric, never dominate it. Test over scrap before cutting, checking that handle.
May I wash it afterwards?
Yes. What matters: interfacing plus outer cloth must survive identical care — otherwise one shrinks, leaving that surface bubbled. Prewashing your outer fabric prevents this reliably.
Why does interfacing come away?
Usually through too little pressure, too little time while pressing, or fabric softener sitting inside that cloth. Both rob adhesive of grip — pressing again firmly often brings everything back.
