For fine, light fabrics Tear Easy is the first pick among tear-aways; where more hold is needed you simply work with several layers. One roll of 10 m, 25 cm wide — you cut it to hoop size. At 33 g/m² it stays thin enough for the needle to pass easily.
Beyond embroidery it also serves as a base for appliqué and edge finishing. No air may stay between stabiliser and fabric. If you use spray adhesive, spray sparingly and onto the stabiliser rather than the fabric. If you embroider regularly, keeping one of the common sizes in stock pays off.

Frequently asked questions
How many layers do I need?
That depends on stitch density. A light design needs one layer, dense areas two or three. Several thin layers hold better than one thick one, because they come off separately.
Do I need spray adhesive with it?
Not necessarily. It helps with small pieces that cannot be hooped and with slippery fabrics. Spray sparingly onto the stabiliser rather than the fabric, or your needle turns sticky.
How large should I cut the stabiliser?
Slightly larger than your hoop so it can be clamped all round. Cut too close, it slips out of the clamp while stitching and then holds nothing at all.
Do I have to change the needle?
Not because of the stabiliser, but regularly in general. A blunt needle punches instead of piercing, and on dense designs you notice that first as thread breaks and frayed holes.
