Thermofix is Sulky's fusible web: it joins two layers of fabric permanently, with no seam required. The roll is 50 cm wide and 25 m long. At 50 g/m² it sits in the medium part of the Sulky range.
Press it on at moderate heat and without steam — the coating needs pressure and warmth, not water. Temperature decides the result. Too cool and the bond fails; too hot and the coating loses its grip or the fabric takes damage. Store it dry, flat and without creases.
What Sulky Thermofix is suitable for
- embroidery in direct contact with skin
- baby and children's clothing
- appliqué and patches
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
May I use steam?
No. The coating needs dry heat and pressure. Steam spreads water across the surface and makes the bond hold in some places and fail in others.
Which side goes onto the fabric?
The coated side, usually slightly shiny or rough. Lay it the wrong way round and the iron sticks — a look in raking light settles it before the iron arrives.
How long does the bond last?
Permanently, provided the temperature was right and the piece cooled before being moved. If a corner lifts, there was usually too little heat or too little pressure.
Does it survive washing?
Yes, at household temperatures. The fabric underneath sets the limit. On clothing washed often and hot, a wash test on a scrap pays off beforehand.
