Sky blue stays pale and clear without tipping into baby blue. Its pile gives the shade enough substance not to look washed out.
Velvet ribbon, 16 mm wide, in 100 % polyamide, by the metre from 0.2 metres. Its face feels warm and soft while the back stays smooth. Because that pile swallows light, the same colour looks richer here than on a satin ribbon — a difference you only notice side by side. No washing, no ironing, no bleach, no drying. Roll leftovers rather than folding them.
What Samtband 16mm Himmelblau is suitable for
- Autumn wreaths, because this shade suits dried flowers.
- Bows on natural paper, because velvet reads warm there.
- Hair accessories, because 16 mm carries a bow.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sew velvet ribbon on?
With a universal needle and straight stitch, close to both edges. That pile lets it travel under your presser foot — tack it first or use a walking foot, then your line stays straight.
Do the ends fray?
Polyamide can work loose at a cut edge. Hold that end briefly to a flame so it seals cleanly — but keep your distance, or the pile beside it melts too.
Does it suit hair accessories?
Very well: velvet slips out of hair less readily than smooth satin, and 16 mm is wide enough for a bow that holds. A few stitches attach it to a hairband.
Can I glue it down?
On paper or card, craft glue holds well. Apply it thinly to the back, never onto the pile — glue from the front mats those fibres and leaves that spot dull and dark.
