Webbing carries weight, so one thing matters above all: it must never lengthen under load. This one runs 30 mm wide, 1 mm thick, made from 100 % polypropylene — woven densely enough that a loaded bag may hang from it.
Width decides your hardware: clasps, D-rings plus sliders all want that same clearance, otherwise webbing jams or slides about. Thread one piece through before cutting, checking it lies flat.
Cut it by hot knife, or pass its end briefly over a flame against fraying. Would you rather not, fold that end twice, then stitch it down.
What Gurtband Uni 30 mm Weiß is suitable for
- Bag straps plus backpack straps, because webbing spreads weight.
- Belts, since it holds firmly enough under a buckle.
- Loops plus handles over bags that get daily use.
Frequently asked questions
How do I bind an edge with it?
Lay your binding over that fabric edge so both faces stand out equally, then stitch through in one pass. Clips hold better than pins here, since they never shift layers, keeping your binding from waving.
How much will I need?
Your edge length plus roughly a tenth for corners plus joining. Around curves allow more, because binding lies slightly stretched there, using that allowance faster than expected.
Should I pre-wash this binding?
If it meets fabric that still shrinks, yes. Otherwise your binding draws up differently during that first wash, leaving a wavy edge which never settles again.
What should I do with leftovers?
Keep them, especially across this group. Short pieces still serve loops, hanging tabs, label tabs plus handle reinforcements — anywhere a few centimetres suffice, where cutting a fresh metre would simply go to waste.
