About this range
The lower thread has its say in how embroidery sits. Too heavy and it pushes up at the edges and hardens the reverse; too fine and it breaks under tension. A bobbin thread is tuned to exactly that narrow band.
Sulky Bobbin is kept fine at weight 180 and comes on spools of a thousand metres. That lasts across many designs without a change in the middle of the work.
Use it as the lower thread only, never on top — it is neither twisted nor strong enough for that. Pick the colour to match the fabric: white under light, black under dark.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set the tension?
So that the reverse shows roughly one third upper thread and two thirds bobbin thread. If the upper thread pulls through to the back, the upper tension is too tight or the bobbin tension too loose.
Why not use it as the upper thread?
Because it is finer and twisted differently from embroidery thread. It breaks under the load of the upper thread path, and it brings no sheen anyway — it is built to stay invisible.
Which colour do I need?
Usually both: white for light fabrics, black for dark ones. At the edges of dense stitching the bobbin thread always pulls up a little, and a mismatched colour shows there straight away.
