Sulky Tear Easy – the light tear-away stabiliser for fine fabrics

Tear Easy is the lightest tear-away stabiliser in the Sulky range. At 33 g/m² it adds almost nothing, yet it still holds the design in shape. After stitching you simply tear it away — across, down or diagonally.

A tear-away stabiliser sits under the fabric and holds it in place while the machine stitches. Without that layer the needle drags the fabric along, the design shifts and outlines no longer meet. Tear Easy does this job at the lowest weight in the range.

Its fibre structure is built so the stabiliser tears equally well in any direction. That spares the embroidery: you never have to tug at the design to free an edge. For denser designs, place two or three layers underneath and tear them away one at a time.

On fine, light fabrics Tear Easy is the first choice, because a heavier stabiliser would give more support than the cloth can take. For firm goods and very high stitch counts, reach for Tear Away Plus or a cut-away stabiliser instead.

How many layers do I need?

One layer is enough for fine fabrics. As the design gets denser, place two or three underneath and tear them away one at a time after stitching. Several thin layers hold better than one thick one and come away more cleanly.

Does anything stay in the garment?

No. A tear-away stabiliser is removed completely after stitching. Small remnants can stay directly under dense stitches; they do no harm and usually disappear in the first wash.

How does it differ from a cut-away stabiliser?

A tear-away is torn off and then gone, while a cut-away stays in the piece permanently and is only trimmed around the design. For knits that stretch, the cut-away is the more durable choice.
