About this range

Kunstfell ist ein leichter Plüsch mit flauschigem Flor aus Polyester, 150 cm breit und 225 g/m² schwer. In kräftigen und hellen Farben ist er der Stoff für Kostüme, Karneval und Verkleidungen, für Kuscheltiere und für Akzente an Kapuzen, Krägen und Taschen. Waschbar bei 30 Grad.

Sewing tips

  • Von links zuschneiden und nur den Grund schneiden, damit der Flor nicht gekappt wird.
  • Alle Teile in dieselbe Strichrichtung legen.
  • Vor dem Nähen den Flor an der Kante nach innen streichen, danach mit einer Nadel aus der Naht ziehen.
  • Universalnadel 80 bis 90, Stichlänge 3, am besten mit Obertransportfuß.
  • Beim Zuschnitt einen Staubsauger bereithalten und die Maschine danach ausbürsten.
  • Bei 30 Grad waschen, nicht bügeln.

Faux fur looks like fur but is light and washable. That is why many people reach for it for costumes and dressing up: a tiger tail, bear ears or a unicorn collar are quick to sew and do not add bulk.

Faux fur also works well for soft toys and decorations, and as a trim on hoods, collars and bags. The colours range from white and champagne through bright red and orange to petrol and black.

As with any plush, cutting is what matters. Cut only through the backing from the wrong side and lay all pieces in the same pile direction. Brush the pile at the edge inwards before sewing and pull it out of the seam with a pin afterwards.

Is faux fur washable?

Yes, at a low temperature. Afterwards do not tumble dry or iron it; shake the pile up by hand and let the fabric air dry.

What is faux fur good for?

For costumes and carnival, for soft toys and decorations, and as a trim on hoods, collars and bags. Because the fabric is light, it does not add bulk even in several layers.

How does it differ from long-pile plush?

Faux fur is lighter and has a shorter pile. Long-pile plush is heavier and falls more loosely with its long hair, so it looks more like real fur.
