About this range

With a double-faced plush both sides are finished. Tamme has the same soft, short pile inside and out. That makes it the fabric for anything seen or touched from both sides: reversible jackets, gilets, children's overalls, cosy blankets and cushions.

Because there is no wrong side to hide, you can skip the lining. The edges deserve attention instead: bound with bias tape or ribbing they look neat and the seam stays flat.

Plush has a pile direction. Lay all pattern pieces the same way round and cut only the backing with the tip of your scissors so the pile is not trimmed. A walking foot stops the layers sliding against each other while you sew.

Frequently asked questions

Does a jacket made from Tamme need a lining?

No. Both sides are plush and finished, and the inside feels as soft as the outside. Just bind the edges neatly with bias tape or ribbing, because they are visible from both sides.

Is Tamme suitable for soft toys?

Yes. The short, dense pile is soft and sews well into small shapes. Lay all pieces in the same pile direction so the fur looks even on the finished toy.

How do I care for double-faced plush?

Wash at a low temperature and do not tumble dry. Do not iron the fabric or the pile will be flattened. After washing, ease it back into shape and let it dry flat.
