About this range

Teddy fabric takes its name from the teddy bear: the pile is dense, slightly curly and feels warm. Teddy plush comes in natural shades from white through taupe and brown to black, which combine well with wool, cord and denim.

For teddy jackets, gilets and coats a lining makes sense, because the back is not meant to be worn against the skin. Soft toys, cushions and blankets do without one. A collar, pocket flaps or a hood edge in teddy add a soft accent to jackets made from smooth fabrics.

When cutting, lay all pieces in the same pile direction and cut only the backing from the wrong side. Trim the seam allowances narrow after sewing and brush the pile out of the seam, so it hardly adds bulk.

Frequently asked questions

Does a teddy jacket need a lining?

Yes, for jackets, gilets and coats a lining makes sense, because the back is not meant to be worn against the skin. Soft toys, cushions and blankets do not need one.

How do I sew teddy plush?

With a universal needle, a slightly longer stitch and ideally a walking foot so the layers do not shift. Trim the seam allowances narrow afterwards and brush the pile out of the seam.

How do I wash teddy plush?

On a gentle cycle at a low temperature and not in the tumble dryer. Do not iron the fabric or the pile will be flattened. Dry it flat and brush up the pile afterwards.
