For a complete garment you also need companion fabric for back, sleeves and cuffing. The panel measurements are stated with the article; compare them with your pattern piece before buying.

Mind the direction of stretch: on a panel too, the stretchy direction has to run around the body. Check before cutting whether the motif is printed accordingly, otherwise the finished piece fits differently than planned.

If the print sits slightly askew, align your cut with the motif. A crooked image is immediately obvious in the finished hoodie, while a minimally off grain cut hardly matters.

What do I need in addition to the panel?

Usually companion fabric for the back, sleeves and cuffing. How much depends on size and design; half a metre to a metre is generally enough for children's sizes.

How do I choose the companion fabric?

Pick up a colour from the panel. Marled or finely patterned fabric often looks more harmonious than a flat solid, because it is similarly lively.

Can I use a panel for adult sizes?

If the measurements fit, yes. Check before buying whether the motif is wide enough for your front piece – many panels are designed for children's sizes.
