Kordeln 2,8 mm

At just under three millimetres this is the thinnest cord in the range. It passes through small eyelets and beads, adds hardly any bulk and suits jewellery, pendants, lanyards and fine drawstrings.

Thin cords have one practical advantage: they knot easily without the knot looking bulky. For pendants and jewellery work that is often decisive.

As a drawstring it only suits small openings. In a hoodie or bag such a thin cord cuts into the hand when pulled – thicker qualities are more comfortable there.

To thread it, use a safety pin or a bodkin. Wrap the end with a little tape and it slides through the channel more easily.

The ends fray. With synthetic fibre a brief touch of flame is enough; with cotton, a knot, an end cap or a drop of fabric glue does the job.

What is this thickness intended for?

Fine work: jewellery, pendants, small drawstrings and anything that has to pass through narrow eyelets or beads. For large bags and hoodies it is too thin.

How do I thread the cord through a channel?

With a safety pin on the end or a bodkin. Wrap the tip with a little tape and it will not catch on the seams inside the channel.

How do I secure the ends?

With synthetic fibre, melt briefly with a flame. With cotton, tie a knot, add an end cap or seal the fibres with a drop of fabric glue.
