This cord is braided round, and at 4 mm it is fine enough for narrow channels without twisting. Pure cotton means it feels soft rather than plasticky, yet a cut end barely frays. Frequently asked questions
Does this cord go stiff after washing?
No, it stays soft. It needs no fabric conditioner, which would only coat the cotton. Air drying is enough; in a tumble dryer that braid slowly loses its round shape.
Does this cord shrink in a wash?
Cotton pulls together slightly in a first wash. So wash your cord together with your fabric before threading it, then that length still fits after your first laundry round.
Will the ends fray?
Barely, as it is tightly braided round. For ends that stay tidy, knot them, fit a cord end cap, or bind them by wrapping thread. Melting will not work on pure cotton.
How much cord does a hood take?
Measure your channel, then add whatever should hang down at each side. As a rough guide, take your channel length plus roughly a hand's width per end, so your hood still draws shut.
