Description
A pale, slightly cool grey, lighter than mid grey, less metallic than silver. This cord runs round-braided, measures 4 mm across, consisting of 100 percent cotton. Firm enough never twisting, soft enough knotting, threading through an eyelet. Cotton takes dye fully, so colour still looks rich after repeated washing at 30 degrees. Cut ends fray slightly; a drop of fabric glue or a short zigzag stitch holds them. Sold from 0.5 m onward, so short lengths can be topped up later.

Frequently asked questions
How should I finish cut ends?
After cutting, ends fray a little. A drop of fabric glue, a tight zigzag stitch, or a metal cord end holds them together permanently, making threading through an eyelet easier.
Will colour bleed?
Cotton releases a little dye at first washing, especially across strong shades. Wash this cord once separately at 30 degrees before sewing, keeping pale cloth beside it clean.
Does it pass through standard eyelets?
At 4 mm across, eyelets need at least that inner width. Cord stops made for 4 mm fit exactly; tighter eyelets can still be threaded using a threading aid.
How much covers one hood?
An adult hood usually takes roughly one and a half metres, so both ends hang long enough. Children sizes need correspondingly less; offcuts serve well as zip tags.
