Super Strong is Sulky's extra-strong cut-away stabiliser. Its perforated structure holds even when a design packs many stitches into a small area. It ships as a roll 50 cm wide and 5 m long. At 80 g/m² it sits in the heavy part of the Sulky range.
For trimming an appliqué scissor works best: its curved shape gets close to the design without catching the fabric. A cut-away is no substitute for clean hooping. Taut like a drum skin, but without stretching the fabric — otherwise the design ripples once released.

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How do I trim it?
With appliqué scissors, leaving a narrow margin around the design. Cut too close and the hold fails at the edges; leave too much and the stabiliser shows through the fabric.
How large should I cut it?
Slightly larger than your hoop so the web is clamped all round. Cut too close, it slips out of the clamp and then holds nothing.
Can I use up offcuts?
Yes, for small designs. Only creased pieces go in the bin — creases tension unevenly in the hoop and show in the finished design. For test pieces offcuts are the first choice anyway.
May I iron over it?
From the reverse and at moderate heat, yes. Straight onto the embroidery an iron flattens the stitches; a pressing cloth between keeps the design's relief.
