Brushed sweatshirt fabric keeps you warm because the inner surface traps air. It suits jumpers, hoodies, sweat jackets and dresses – wherever a shirt would be too thin and a coat too much.

The real advantage of the range lies in the matching: Eike carries the same colour numbers as the cuffing Heike, the French terry Maike and the jersey Vanessa. Anyone sewing a garment from several qualities does not have to hunt for the shade, only carry over the number.

Sew with a jersey needle and a stretch stitch. Wash the fabric before cutting, because brushed material opens up slightly in the first wash and shrinks a little.

The inner face is mechanically raised so a soft, fleecy surface forms. This layer holds air and keeps you noticeably warmer than smooth fabric, without adding much bulk.

What is brushed sweat not suitable for?

Flowing designs with plenty of drape. The material is firm and adds bulk, so flounces, full skirts and draped styles look heavy in it. Viscose jersey is the better choice there.
