Cotton Linen

Cotton linen combines the easy care of cotton with the texture of linen. The weave is airy, cools pleasantly and shows the slightly irregular surface that makes linen so recognisable.

Pure linen creases heavily and is expensive; pure cotton looks smooth and even. The blend takes the best of both: visible texture and good drape with far simpler care.

The fabric suits summer dresses, wide trousers, shirts and tunics as well as curtains, cushions and table linen. It drapes softly but does not cling, because the linen keeps it away from the skin.

Creases are part of the material, not a fault. To reduce them, press while slightly damp. Wash before cutting, as linen content shrinks more than cotton alone.

Frequently asked questions

Does cotton linen crease badly?

Less than pure linen, more than pure cotton. The creases are part of the fabric's character. If that bothers you, choose a blend with a higher cotton content or press while slightly damp.

How much does the fabric shrink?

Linen content contracts more noticeably in the first wash than cotton. Wash the fabric before cutting the way you will care for it later, otherwise the finished piece turns out smaller than planned.

Is cotton linen suitable for curtains?

Yes, very much so. The fabric falls in folds, filters light and looks livelier than a smooth weave thanks to its texture. It is not intended for blackout, however.
