The texture holds the fabric slightly away from the skin. That makes piqué feel cooler than a smooth weave of the same weight and suits warm days well.

Besides polo shirts it can be made into summer dresses, children's clothes, skirts and blouses. The fabric does not flow but keeps a calm, slightly standing silhouette.

Handle piqué like firm woven cotton: universal needle, straight stitch, finish the edges. When pressing, use moderate pressure so the honeycomb is not flattened.

What is the difference from piqué jersey?

This fabric is woven and therefore barely stretches, while piqué jersey is knitted and gives way. Patterns needing stretch require the jersey, stable pieces the woven fabric.

Why does piqué feel cooler than smooth cotton?

Because the honeycomb holds the fabric slightly away. Air stays between skin and weave and carries moisture away – the same principle as the classic polo shirt.

Is piqué suitable for children's clothes?

Yes. The fabric is robust, breathable and washable. For very small children soft knitted fabric is more comfortable, though, because it gives way.
