Cotton woven fabric, also called poplin, is tightly woven, giving almost nothing — a classic wherever shape must hold. Its handle stays smooth, cool; this fabric hangs straight rather than softly.
This one is Baumwollwebware / Popeline in Black, 150 cm wide, 100 % cotton. Washable at 30 degrees. Wash it once before cutting, so its length stays stable afterwards.
Black pairs readily alongside plain shades; anyone wanting contrast sets it beside something stronger. Sold by metre, cut to whatever your project takes. Leftovers still serve bags, appliqué plus small pouches.
What Baumwoll Druck Looney Tunes beim Sport auf Schwarz is suitable for
- Blouses, shirts plus dresses with a clear line, because this fabric holds its shape.
- Bags, pouches or cushion covers, since woven cotton stands up to handling.
- Patchwork plus quilting, where a thin, dimensionally stable fabric matters.
Frequently asked questions
Should I pre-wash?
Yes. Cotton draws up during its first wash, by several percent depending on quality. Meeting that after sewing leaves a garment that no longer fits; beforehand it costs only fabric.
How do I stop edges fraying?
By finishing them: overlocker, zigzag, or pinking shears. Woven cotton frays along its threads, and whatever starts at a seam allowance travels closer to that seam with every wash.
Which needle suits it?
A medium universal needle serves most cottons. Densely woven qualities deserve going one size up, otherwise small puncture marks stay visible while your seam draws together.
How much fabric will I need?
That follows your pattern rather than your fabric. Roughly: a shirt wants about your own body length, a dress twice that. Directional prints deserve a more generous allowance.
