French terry is the fabric for hoodies, sweat jackets and children's clothes worn all year round. 250 g/m² at 145 cm wide: calculate your yardage from the width, not from the pattern alone. Material: 95 % cotton and 5 % elastane.
A pale fabric in White asks for a little more care in the wash, and in return reads fresher than any other. A batik gradient differs slightly on every length — which is exactly the appeal of these fabrics. The brushed inside sheds at cut edges; finishing them is therefore not an optional step.
What French Terry Batik Muster Weiß Hellgrau is suitable for
- hoodies and hooded jackets
- joggers
- children's clothes for autumn and winter
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pre-wash?
Yes, especially with brushed goods. Sweat shrinks more than jersey, and on a finished hoodie that cannot be corrected. Wash it the way the piece will be washed later.
Why does the inside shed?
Because fibres lie loose at the cut edge. That settles after finishing and the first washes. If you want none of it, finish the edges straight after cutting.
May sweat go in the dryer?
If the care label allows it. Brushed goods turn softer in a dryer but shrink more. If you plan to tumble dry, do it once before cutting.
Is sweat only a winter fabric?
No. The lighter unbrushed version wears all year — over a shirt on summer evenings, under a jacket in winter. Only the brushed inside makes it a pure winter fabric.
