Thermofilm is Sulky's heat-soluble film — for everything that cannot take water. The roll is 50 cm wide and 25 m long. This version comes in Transparent.
The film goes on top of your fabric and is hooped together with it. The difference from a water-soluble film lies only in the removal. While stitching both behave alike — thin, transparent, meant as a topping. Store it dry, flat and without creases. It ships singly, so you can restock exactly what you need. If you embroider regularly, keeping one of the common sizes in stock pays off.
What Sulky Thermofilm Transparent is suitable for
- designs on water-sensitive fabrics
- delicate fabrics in contact with skin
- embroidery visible from both sides
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
What temperature does removal need?
A high one, but your fabric sets the limit. Test on a scrap first to see how much heat the material takes before the iron touches your finished design.
Can I use it on terry?
No. In high-pile fabrics it catches between the loops and can no longer be removed completely. There a water-soluble film is the right choice.
Why not simply use a water-soluble film?
Because not every fabric takes water. On silk, some synthetics and anything that shows water marks, the heat-soluble version is the only one that vanishes cleanly.
Does anything remain?
Not at the right temperature. Whatever still shows after ironing was treated too cool — a second pass with a little more heat and patience settles it.
