Ultra Stable is the heaviest stabiliser in the Sulky range: iron-on, cut-away and built for designs with high stitch counts. The roll is 50 cm wide and 25 m long. At 115 g/m² it sits in the heavy part of the Sulky range.
A cut-away stabiliser stays in the garment. After stitching you trim it around the design, leaving a narrow margin. The difference between a good and a poor embroidery result rarely comes down to the thread and almost always to the stabiliser beneath. On knits that goes double.

Frequently asked questions
How do I trim it?
With appliqué scissors, leaving a narrow margin around the design. Cut too close and the hold fails at the edges; leave too much and the stabiliser shows through the fabric.
White or black?
Matched to your fabric. Since it stays in the piece, it shows through thin cloth. White under pale fabrics, black under dark ones — that is the whole difference.
Does it scratch against skin?
The soft qualities do not. With heavy stabilisers and direct skin contact you add a backing on the reverse, which covers the stitches and keeps the handle soft.
Does it survive washing?
Yes, it is made for it. The design keeps its shape even when a piece is washed regularly. The limit comes from the fabric rather than the stabiliser.
