Description

For hems, spacings and seam allowances that should come out the same every time. Made in the size 23 cm × 4.5 cm. Sold as a single item. The material is plastic.

Two measurements at different points reveal whether the length really lies straight — which saves unpicking later. For alterations to finished pieces the measurement shows how much width is really missing or left over. A measuring tool belongs stored flat; once bent, its edge is no longer true. The pack states the size, so buying more later stays easy. Anyone sewing regularly likes to keep such notions in duplicate.

What Prym Love measuring aid in Multicolour is suitable for

  • Marking hems and seam allowances
  • Stepping off even intervals
  • Work at the cutting table

Frequently asked questions

How do I measure accurately?

Lay the fabric flat, do not pull, and check at two points. Knits deceive most: under tension they measure several centimetres more than they hold in the finished piece.

Is it good for patchwork?

Yes, provided the edges are true and the tool lies flat. In patchwork repeatability counts for more than a single millimetre. Always working from the same edge keeps the deviation small by itself.

How should it be stored?

Flat and with no load on top. A bent ruler pulls every cut askew, and it usually shows only when pieces refuse to match. Hung on a hook, a long ruler stays true the longest.

Do I add the seam allowance?

Only if the pattern does not include it. Many patterns already do; a look at the instructions settles it faster than any sum on the fabric.
