Description

A measuring aid for short distances — faster than a tape and more accurate than the eye. Sold as a single item.

Hems, cuffs and seam allowances can be marked evenly without recalculating each time. Two measurements at different points reveal whether the length really lies straight — which saves unpicking later. A measuring tool belongs stored flat; once bent, its edge is no longer true. The pack states the size, so buying more later stays easy. Anyone sewing regularly likes to keep such notions in duplicate. These notions fit any sewing drawer and come to hand quickly.

What Prym measuring aid 150 cm is suitable for

  • Marking hems and seam allowances
  • Patchwork and quilting
  • Alterations to finished clothing

Frequently asked questions

How do I measure accurately?

Lay the fabric flat, do not pull, and check at two points. Knits deceive most: under tension they measure several centimetres more than they hold in the finished piece.

How do I mark an even hem?

Set dots at short intervals along the measure and join them. Measuring at only two points inevitably gives a wave on a curved hem. Finally, pin the hem and check it once more from the outside.

How should it be stored?

Flat and with no load on top. A bent ruler pulls every cut askew, and it usually shows only when pieces refuse to match. Hung on a hook, a long ruler stays true the longest.

How do I clean it?

Wipe with a damp cloth, no scouring agents. Chalk dust and lint otherwise settle in the figures and make the scale unreadable. Let it dry before it goes back in the drawer, or it collects dust.
