Description

Wanja's ribs catch the light, so the colour looks lighter or darker depending on the angle. Woven from 100 % polyester, 380 g/m², 140 cm wide.

Burgundy is a dark wine red with plenty of depth, which looks almost luxurious in velvet pile and suits gold and brass. This colour belongs to the Swafing seasonal collection AW26/27 and is available in limited quantities.

Sew with a strong needle, a longer stitch and ideally a walking foot, so the thick layers do not shift.

Combining several colours from the series lets you contrast seat and back or sew cushions in a colour gradient.

What Velvet Wide Cord Wanja AW26/27 by Swafing Burgundy is suitable for

- Beanbags and play mats.
- Cushion covers and seat pads.
- Bags, pouches and baskets.
Sewing tips
Available in more colours in the Wanja series.

Frequently asked questions
What should I watch when cutting?
The velvet pile has a direction. Lay every piece the same way round, otherwise they will shimmer differently later. The ribs run along the grain and should meet at the same height across seams.
How do I care for Wanja?
Wash at 30 degrees, do not bleach, do not tumble dry and do not iron. After washing, pull it straight and dry flat. A gentle stroke with a soft brush lifts the pile again when needed.
Does this fabric shrink in the wash?
Polyester hardly shrinks, so prewashing matters less than with cotton. For cushion covers and garments that will go in the machine later, a test wash is still worthwhile so nothing comes as a surprise.
How much fabric do I need for an armchair cover?
That depends on seat, back and armrests. Because of the pile direction all pieces must lie the same way, which costs some waste. It is best to measure the old cover pieces and allow a little extra.
